Oh, the people who have bought one of our turkish towels from Knotty, they certainly are a varied bunch. 90 year old great grandmothers, travellers to China and beyond, grey nomads, an F18 fighter pilot being deployed to the Middle East, designers wanting to achieve a certain look in a bathroom, university students, backpackers (how I wish I had one when I was backpacking 20 odd years ago), new mums, experienced mums, families taking time off to travel across our great Australian outback, surfers and yoga devotees … seems that there is no-one who doesn’t appreciate the qualities a good turkish towel offers.
Their use is as varied as the people who use them. They are very absorbent but dry quickly, they fold up small, they are light weight and generous in size and being made from 100% Turkish cotton they are super soft. You can choose to go bright and funky or more muted and traditional – whatever your style. Take them to the beach or a picnic. Keep them in the car for when you need a rug to sit on or something for a little extra warmth. Wrap it around yourself as a sarong after a refreshing dip. Throw it over your shoulders for modesty in temples and churches when you are travelling to exotic places. Use it as a table cloth, a bath towel or a throw on your bed or lounge for that pop of colour. They are absolutely perfect for backpackers, actually I think I have to say they are essential for travellers of all types. The versatility they offer sure is wide-ranging.
Recently Australian style and design guru Melissa Penfold shared some styling tips using Knotty towels, she suggested “hanging them on a row of iron hooks, lining them up in neat piles along open shelves, or stacking them on a chair (or stool). They will bring life to a hallway, kitchen, laundry, child’s bedroom, bathroom or pool house.”
I also had Aussie outback travellers come back after their trip and tell me how great the towels were and that they were one of the best things they took with them. During hikes to out of the way Billabongs, the kids in particular, had no trouble carrying their own towels. They rolled up small and light and were put into daypacks along with food, water and sunscreen as part of the essentials that each person needed for the day. Not once did the primary aged kids complain about carrying them.
Knotty towels are designed by Annika Macvean and Caren Vidler. Two Australian mums from Melbourne, with kids heavily involved in swim activities, who quickly discovered how turkish towels would make their life easier. As a result, Knotty was born in 2011 and has grown rapidly ever since. The girls are constantly introducing new colour ways and designs with an emphasis on ensuring a quality product. The latest offering is the “Retro Round” towel. One and half meters in diameter, double thickness and two-tone – the most stylish way to stake your claim at the beach this summer.
Don’t be caught out this summer, come in and grab your Knotty towel and you’ll be ready for where ever life leads you. You will find our range of Knotty here
